PopTray & Freepops (Monitor mail Libero.it with TelecomIta)

Post by FDLDJ » Mon Dec 31, 2012 12:08 pm

Hi everyone,
I just joined the forum and I do not know if it has already happened a case like mine.
Unfortunately my PopTray it not work anymore, you now explain my problem.
Before I was with Infostrada Libero.it , and I received mail from the monitor popmail.libero.it. Now, I am with TelecomItalia Alice.it, and I receive mail monitor only with fdldj@libero.it.
Libero.it, block other six my mailboxes (x@libero.it).
I added Freepops but does not work, PopTray giving error while connecting: Failed Auth.
I probably something wrong.
I realized that in addition to password, Libero.it has entered a keyword before, maybe this is the problem that it does not work anymore.
Please can give me the right configuration with PopTray & Freepops? Thank you very much for your help.
Best regards, & Best Wishes for a Happy New Year!

Freepops is used to provide pop service for webmail based email servers to standard email clients... Your internet provider already provides standard pop service so you don't need to use Freepops to access it.

Configure Poptray just as you would a standard email client such as Outlook Express with the settings that your internet provider already has posted.

I believe the settings for incoming email server for alice.it is

Username - username@alice.it
Incoming server - in.alice.it
Port - 110

Hello Rdsok,
thanks for answering,
but unfortunately, maybe I have not explained the problem well.
Yes what you say, I know this.
The problem is that before it all worked when I was with Infostrada that manages Libero.it mail.
Now I have changed provider, I am with TelecomItalia that manages Alice.it post, but I do not use Alice.it mail.
PopTray before worked perfectly when I was with Infostrada, since I switched to TelecomItalia no longer works.
My mail accounts are still with Infostrada.

Example:
Username - username@libero.it
Incoming server - popmail.libero.it
Port - 110
Error connecting: Auth Failed
(AUTH) POP3 Acces not allowed
-------------------------------------
Example with Freepops:
Username - username@libero.it
Incoming server - 127.0.0.1
Port - 2000
Socket Error #10061
Connection refused

It seems that Infostrada block my mail accounts.
I do not know how to read my mail as before, that's why I was using Freepops, but even with this program, PopTray does not work...

Hello Rdsok,
thank you for your patience.
I followed the instructions, but unfortunately for me it is too difficult.
At this point, I hope to find an expert like you but an italian, can explain the correct configuration of PopTray for my problem.
I will not change the program because PopTray is very useful for my case, as a monitor e-mail.
Well, now I ask you if you know an italian in this forum that helps people who have problems and if you can tell him to contact me.
Many thanks for everything!

Setting up Poptray to use Freepops is the same as it is for any email client basically... So finding instructions for setting up Freepops in your language should allow you to use them in Poptray as well.

Poptray, as it is with most freeware programs, is a user supported program, there is not an organization that supports it... it is other Poptray users that do that but only when they feel like it... As such, I know of no one that I can suggest you ask for help that speaks Italian or any other language than English.

thank you for your support. I'm italian as FDLDJ, so I'll try to help him here.

In the future, please PM me for any support for italians.
