Since Poptray can't access Hotmail unless you use a proxy program such as FreePops.... make sure you have updated your proxy software so that it has the latest definition files for the service ( Hotmail in this case ) or services you are trying to connect to.

I'm uncertain if Hotmail has changed at this time but I do know they do so regularly from posts we've seen here in the past.

You've upgraded the OS but not the app. Poptray wasn't designed for the newer versions of Windows, is no longer being updated, and hasn't been for years. Your best option is to convert to PopTrayU.

I suspect the SSL library wasn't installed... or possibly not installed properly. Although, if it was installed.. that leaves just a settings or firewall issue after that.

Poptray can work on Win7 if the UAC is disabled...

PopTray ran fine on my Win 7 32-bit machine but not on the Win 7 64-bit machine. UAC was not an issue.

I ran PT on my Win7 64b with no issues... with UAC off. All settings files were in the Poptray folder though I did have to put the SSL libraries into the main PT folder if I recall... that has now been a while since I switched to Win8 64b as it was released.

:? So I found my old Win 7 64-bit PopTray folder, dbl clicked on the .exe and it came up, it accessed my accounts, and I was able to access my emails. :?

Not sure why I upgraded to PoptrayU at this point, but I don't think I will be going back to PT 3.2, even if it does apparently work.

jojobear did a great job with PTU....

She took the existing Poptray code.... added the much needed OS support for the newer OS's beyond XP, added UTF-8 support, added optional HTML preview support and other features.

I know I see little reason to use an older version of the software when the latest PTU has all the same features plus more with it.

any version of poptray or poptrayu should work just as well on 64-bit as on 32-bit. There are no known x64 issues excepting in regards to MAPI/mailto features when combined with emails outside the ANSI code-page.
