Adding Gmail

Post by Nikilet » Wed Nov 05, 2014 10:46 pm

Hi!

I added Gmail to my Windows Live Mail as an IMAP account.

How do I now add that to PopTray?

Since IMAP isn't a well defined standard... we recommend setting up using POP instead...

You can try the IMAP plug from the download section but it doesn't work with all IMAP servers...

I tried setting it up at POP3 also and it still wouldn't connect so I have no idea what I am doing wrong. I Googled the subject "set up Gmail in PopTray" and I found instructions, but the thing didn't work when I finished.

I became so stressed out over this whole thing I just deleted it and called it good!

First you must enable POP access to Gmail in it's settings .... then configure Poptray using the POP settings for GMail ....

That info is available on Gmail's help pages https://support.google.com/mail/trouble ... ts=1665119

Select "Outlook" or "Other" for the email client and use just the POP settings they give.

There is no reason in life to let small matters such as setting up email get you upset... save the stress for important things in life
