The GMAIL PLUGIN is outdated. Development on it stopped when GMAIL enabled POP3 access. Below is a description on how to set up your account and PopTray to retrieve GMAIL using POP3.
KY Dave wrote:To check GMAIL accounts using POP3 you need to install the SSL Plugin.

The SSL Plugin is available at Source Forge, use the link below for a direct download after choosing your d/l site...

Download PopTrayPlugins_beta6.exe

Download the plugin using the above links and follow these directions...

Double CLick the PopTrayPlugins_beta6.exe file.
Install to PopTray Directory. It should automatically create Plugins directory. If not point the installer to the Plugins directory you have created.

Start PopTray and on the OPTIONS TAB, PLUGINS, Check the box for POP3 with SSL or APOP
SAVE OPTIONS

In PopTray ACCOUNTS TAB, GMAIL ACCOUNT, PROTOCOL, select SSL
Server - pop.gmail.com
Use your full email address in small letters including domain -> brazil@gmail.com
SAVE ACCOUNTS, QUIT PopTray and RESTART for changes to take effect.

You will have to LOGIN to GMAIL and ENABLE POP3 ACCESS.
I also suggest changing a setting to ARCHIVE AFTER POP3 ACCESS.

Check your GMail account.

Thanks as well Dave. I just enabled POP3 on my GMail, and I couldn't figure out why poptray wouldn't check the account, until I read your post.

Many thanks again.

Except, When the PopTray window pops up, notifying me of new GMAIL, if I click the ''Run E-Mail client'', to view the mail, it'll just open my Defaul email client (outlook express). How can I change this so that it would open the Gmail account?

E-Mail program: Gmail ????

I think here is where I am not sure!! If it works , then clicking the ''test'' tab (next to it), should open up the gmail window, right? This doesn't happen!
You need to open your browser and go to the GMAIL login screen...
in the address window there should be a url that looks something like below...

https://www.google.com/accounts/Service ... mplcache=2

COPY and PASTE that url into the PopTray, ACCOUNT TAB, GMAIL ACCOUNT, EMAIL PROGRAM Window.

Click SAVE ACCOUNT.

Then try the TEST BUTTON.

It should open your OS's default browser and go to the GMAIL Login page.

You will need to enter your USERNAME and PASSWORD if you do not use REMEMBER ME ON THIS COMPUTER.

PS - You can set Outlook Express to download and send email using a GMAIL Account.

As always, KY Dave, your very fast replies and help is very much appreciated. It seems I have deleted my post, just as you were replying!! I thought maybe I was making too much of a fuss and should just be happy having this great product work with my default email client.

Now that I've received your reply, I am getting right on it :D
