Checking MSN mail with PopTray

Post by Deschere » Thu Feb 08, 2007 7:09 pm

Tried using both the plug in (HTTPmail) and all combinations of my MSN account, either get an immediate error or a "Plug-in Error: Unknown". Running XP Pro and Explorer 7.0.5730.11. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mark

Did you QUIT PopTray and RESTART PopTray for changes to take effect after installing the plugin?

Does PopTray have access to the internet through your firewall?

Do you have the entire address including domain (ie -> billgates@msn.com) entered in the username?

Do you have a new MSN LIVE Account?

Quit and restarted PopTray and computer to see if it would change - not.

Have a connection to my personal e-mail account and it works fine. (POP3)

Added the entire address deschere@msn.com

Not sure if I have a new MSN LIVE account. I set up Streets & Trips 2007 and it looks like ti set me up that way, but would appreciate a suggestion on how to check.

Thanks,

Mark

Hotmail Plugin Text wrote:The Hotmail Plugin can trace its actions in a Log file.

The Logging can enabled/disabled in the Options Popup Window (it is disabled by default).
The Log file is renewed every time PopTray is started.

If you want to find out what it does or where it went wrong,
you can find it here: <PopTray Directory>\plugins\hotmail.log

There is also an option for Extended Logging,
this will show more information about the messages which are sent.
In PopTray on the OPTIONS TAB, PLUGINS,
right click on the HOTMAIL plugin name in the window,
then select PLUGIN OPTIONS,
check the box for whichever logging option you want to use.

QUIT PopTray and RESTART PopTray for logging to begin.
Try to check your MSN Account,
then examine the hotmail.log file.

It looks like that you have an ANTIVIRUS program or something stopping the PLUGIN from communicating with the web mail server. But, I must say that I'm not at all profiecent in this aspect of troubleshooting.
