PopTray under Windows 7

Probably everyone knows this already, but here's a simple way to make sure PopTray runs under Windows 7. I started with an existing PopTray setup on my XP system, and copied its entire folder (from Program Files) to a convenient storage disk. In Windows 7, in my user folder, I created a folder named...

Accelerator keys in Preview window?

Accelerator keys work perfectly on the main PopTray menu (I mean the Alt-underlined keys next to the icons, such as Alt-H for Hide or Alt-C for Check). But, on my system, at least, they don't work in the Preview window. If I type Alt-S (for Save) or Alt-P (for Print), or any of the other accelerator...

I *thought* PopTray shouldn't act this way, but it does consistently on that machine. I'm referring to the main window - the one with the account tabs horizontally across the top below the title bar, and the tabs for Mail, Accounts, Options, Rules, About arranged vertically just inside the right edg...

KY Dave, Thank you! Yes, you figured out what I meant to say even though I said the exact opposite of what I intended to say. I'm about to try out that rule now, and will report results (though it may take a day or two before that machine restarts with no new messages). But, if Renier is listening, ...

Don't show window when no new message?

On one of my family's machines, PopTray checks an IMAP account and uses the setting to hide viewed messages. The same machine uses a mail client that deletes messages on the IMAP server after three days, so there are almost always viewed messages on the server. Unfortunately, whenever this machine s...

Move Preview window and make it stay moved?

I keep PopTray's main window in the lower right corner of the screen. When I click on Preview, the Preview window appears in the upper left region of the screen (not at the upper-left corner, but in the upper-left quadrant, if that's clear). Is there a way to make the Preview window appear closer to...

Yes, I know about hiding and revealing inactive icons. The trouble is that Poptray gets loaded too early on my system to get into the list of active/inactive icons. (This started happening when I installed the PowerChute software that works with my uninterruptible power supply - it seems to get in t...

Fix invisible system tray icon in XP

Recently, the PopTray icon stopped appearing in my system tray under Windows XP. The program was running, and hotkeys still did what they were supposed to be, but the tray icon was invisible. Following an earlier thread here, I realized that the problem was (apparently) that PopTray was being launch...

This is a major improvement over the earlier versions in that it doesn't cause a total lockup when trying to preview a message. Unfortunately, it doesn't actually preview the message on my setup (Windows XP); instead the Preview window is blank and won't close when I click the "X" at the upper right...

This has been a problem (at least on my machines) ever since the first IMAP plugin appeared, and it seems to occur with ALL IMAP plugins. I've never been able to preview a new IMAP message without making PopTray lock up.

Hi, Rdsok, Many thanks for those detailed suggestions. I'm running mostly under Windows 98 SE (but will try this when I dual-boot to XP later today or tomorrow). Unfortunately, resetting the IE advanced options to the defaults and turnng off ZoneAlarm Pro had no effect. The newer C+ plugin still rep...

Quick IMAP report

Here's a quick report on how the IMAP plugins work for at least one user: The IMAP4rev1(c-client) produces "cannot connect to server" errors when I try it with www.mac.com, www.myrealbox.com, and my mail server at Columbia.edu. The older IMAP4 plugin works perfectly with www.mac.com and www.myrealbo...

Thanks, Renier. My wife and I both leave messages on the server for one or two days so that we can see them again on other machines, and use the Hide feature so that we don't see old ones again in PopTray, so it's a minor annoyance when the window pops up with no messages showing. Thanks again for t...

Renier,

Can you help? Is there a way to prevent the window from opening when there are no new messages and we have "hide viewed messages" on - so that we can avoid seeing a window with no messages at all?

Thanks!

How to prevent popup window with no new messages?

Hello, fellow PopTray enthusiasts: This should be obvious to me, but I can't seem to get it right. Exactly what options should I set so that PopTray does NOT pop up a notification window when there no new messages, and all previous messages are hidden? I've got "Show Window on Notifacation" checked;...
