Mark as spam

I'd just like to have a simple rule (not using K9, just PopTray) to mark as spam anyone not on my whitelist. Thanks.

Thanks for that information. K9 has now decided not to filter messages, so something has obviously gone wrong. I've decided to temporarily drop K9 and put in a regular expression which I picked up on this forum, to use PopTray to filter out spam, ie mark as spam anything that is not on my whitelist....

Poptray not working anymore

I have been using K9 and PopTray happily for sometime now. However, I am now getting the problem that PopTray does not delete messages as instructed. I have checked, double checked and triple checked my instructions against KYDave's and cannot find any typing errors. If I add my own simple rule 3 to...

Strange K9 Poptray issue

Everything works fine except.....there is one particular address using Tiscali - a service provider - which never arrives in my Poptray. It arrives at K9, where I can see it under recent Emails, but does not appear anywhere else and I am therefore unable to download it to my Email client. I have not...

Importing addresses to the Poptray whitelist file

Is there a way to import addresses from Thunderbird into the PopTray whitelist area. I have created an LDIF file and put it onto the desktop, but don't know what to do next. Thanks.

Deletion of messages

If I have a number of messages in my PopTray inbox and want to delete just one message, I highlight the message, a prompt comes up to ask whether I'm sure I want to delete the message, I click OK and all my messages are deleted. Same thing happens when I want to hide just one message. All the messag...

Uder the PopTray "Bug report" section you'll find a thread on Pop Tray freezing. I had this problem and in my case it was after the latest Microsoft Security update. I followed the link below and downloaded the patch and it worked. Try it. Quite a few users have experienced problem in the last week....

Spam killed stone dead

I would like to offer my thanks to KY Dave and the PopTray team for helping me kill Spam. I hesitated to make this claim, but after receiving over 100 spam Emails over the past 21 days, I really do believe that the spammers have been repulsed - maybe temporarily - we shall see. How has this been ach...

I apologise for not replying earlier, but I decided to leave matters to take their course and I am pleased to say that everything is now working as it should. I have had 1250 Emails - about 25 a day - and PopTray is deleting Spam as per the rules. This wasn't happening before, but it is now and I am...

First of all, thanks for your help and attention. I've taken some information off my log - below - to see if you can spot anything wrong. (I changed rule 5 to a better description yesterday). The asterisks don't show in the log, but they are there in the rules. Also I've triple checked all the infor...

Well, I'm reporting back because I would appreciate some advice. First of all, a massive appreciation for PopTray which I find excellent. However, things aren't working as they should using K9 in conjunction with PopTray. What I am finding is that although I have only a 6% failure rate of spotting s...

I just don't get it

OK, I use PopTray and have now added K9. I've configured as instructed and double checked my typing to make sure I haven't made any mistakes. My problem is that I keep getting Emails from different addresses each time, so I cannot blacklist the addresses and I can't find any common words to block. I...

OK Dave, thanks for your attention. This message happens once in a while. I have Thunderbird open, but I've now shut it - however I like to have it open as it takes ages to boot up. Yes I run Trend anti virus and firewall. PopTray is allowed and if it was blocked a message would come up. I'm on 2Mbi...

connect error:read timeout

What does this message mean. I have a timeout of 180 seconds. Surely that's long enough? I don't quite understand why this message pops up. Again, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

New user - server settings

Does PopTray override the server settings on my Email client? For instance "check for new messages every....minutes". "Automatically download messages". Or would I have to disable these options on my Email Client. I use Thunderbird. Thanks.
