I finally got it to work.

I deleted Windows Live Mail from the Accounts/PopTrayU Account Preferences/Email Program, saved it, and then it automatically put in there [Use Default Program] and that did it.

Thanks for putting up with me!

I uninstalled PopTrayU from my Win 7 computer with RevoUninstaller, removing all settings and such, and then I reinstalled it. From the main page, I can click on the "check mail" and that works, the sound works, but the "Run Email Client" is dead. But I can go to the Options/Defaults page, I can cli...

I do have the PopTrayU on my laptop which is Win 7 and that is the one where it won't open my email program. The path seems to be right.

PopTray and Windows 7

I just posted but may have messed up because I can't find it, so I am going to post again just in case. I have PopTray on my Vista machine with Windows Live Mail and it all works just fine. I have a Windows 7 machine, also with Windows Live Mail, and when I select "Run E-mail client" nothing happens.

Thank you very much for the additional info. I did notice that I had 2 Program Files folders, one with (x86) by it, and there is a Windows Live Mail in both of them.

I just tested the instructions you gave me for browsing and it worked like a charm.

I thank you, sincerely, for all your help!

I guess I don't know what you meant by "browse." Don't really know what the mispelling was either. I clicked that box in PopTray Options/Defaults with the three little dots in it and it opened Explorer. I typed in the box Windows Live Mail and the box at the right showed EXE files (*.exe), I clicked...

I guess i don't know how to convince you that the path appears to be correct but it still doesn't work. Does this forum accept screenshots?

The path is right

C/Program Files/Windows Live/Mail/wlmail.exe

but clicking on "Run Email Client" in PopTray on my laptop will NOT open my Windows Live Mail account.

It does on my desktop and the path is exactly the same.

I looked on my Vista desktop and under options/Defaults it shows the E-mail program as: "C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe" I looked on my laptop under Options/Defaults and it said: Windows Mail. I changed it to show the same as above and it still will not open the email account and down...

PopTray question

On my Windows 7 laptop I am using Windows Live Mail, which to the best of my knowledge is set up as a POP3 account. When I click on the "Run E-mail Client" box PopTray always opened Windows Live Mail and messages were downloaded. I have no clue what happened to change that, but now when I click on "...

I tried setting it up at POP3 also and it still wouldn't connect so I have no idea what I am doing wrong. I Googled the subject "set up Gmail in PopTray" and I found instructions, but the thing didn't work when I finished. I became so stressed out over this whole thing I just deleted it and called i...

Adding Gmail

Hi!

I added Gmail to my Windows Live Mail as an IMAP account.

How do I now add that to PopTray?

Are you sure about your information? I asked someone who I consider very knowledgeable and their answer was: "The European Union agreement with MS didn’t even cover Windows Mail, it covered Internet Explorer not being part of Windows and allowing users to remove it if they wish. It had nothing to do...

RdSok: I uninstalled PopTray and installed PopTrayU.

I'm making progress but still no cigar. Everything is working normally, except I can not run Windows Mail from PopTray by selecting "Run Email Client." That's not the end of the world, but still wondering why it won't work.

I haven't gotten around to starting my laptop and making any changes. I will try the compatibility mode to see what happens. If it doesn't work for me then I will use the PopTrayU suggested.

Thanks for the input!

I'm going to start over. Nothing is working on PopTray in Windows 7. I can right click the icon and click on the "Show Messages" but when I do that nothing happens, even though there is mail. Also, I don't get my sound announcement that I have new mail. My whole purpose in having PopTray is so that ...

PopTray problem on my new Win 7 laptop

I have been using PopTray on my Vista machine for quite a long time. Tonight I downloaded and installed PopTray 3.2 on my new Windows 7 laptop. After I first set up the account and clicked the Test button, it opened my Windows Mail account. But now I click on it to open it and nothing happens. It wi...
