PopTray in PC Magazine as best of the best!

PopTray is included in a list of the best free software for 2007 in the PC Magazine issue of February 20, 2007!
Renier, if you want, I can mail that magazine issue to you.

RE: I do not use any more PopTray

Because OutClock seems limited in its antispam features. It only seems to use user-defined rules for message headers, whereas SpamPal can also filter out spam based on public and private blacklists, country origin, IP address, etc. As far as I'm concerned, the combo of PopTray and SpamPal is unbeata...

RE: I do not use any more PopTray

I agree completely with homaquebec. PopTray is not intended to be an antispam tool. It's a mail notification tool, and it's absolutely fabulous as that. I myself use SpamPal in conjunction with PopTray to automatically filter out spam, and it works brilliantly. SpamPal sits in between PopTray and th...

Rule for From = To?

Like you were suggesting, I had whitelisted my own e-mail addresses, which means there was a rule match, but since the e-mail address was whitelisted, nothing happened. Duh!

Thanks!

Rule for To=From?

What do I need to do to automatically delete any e-mail where the sending e-mail address is identical to the receiving e-mail address? Every now and then I receive spam where the From address has been forged to match the To address. I created the following rule: [Rule17] Name=To is From Enabled=1 Ne...

SpamPal

You should give SpamPal (www.spampal.org) a try, too. I'm using it in conjunction with PopTray, and it filters about 95% of all junk mail.
I personally prefer SpamPal over K9.

PopTray and MailWasher?

Maybe I'm missing something, but is there a way to set up PopTray to work with MailWasher Pro, i.e. be chained with this program?

SpamPal or K9

KY Dave,

Thanks for your feedback. I'm currently running SpamPal, which works fine, but I thought I'd try something else. Would you recommend K9 over SpamPal?

Managed to make it work, but...

I managed to make PopTray work with Spam Sleuth--that is, PopTray can check the e-mail and indicates there is new e-mail, but all fields in the list of new e-mail are empty (i.e., there as many new-mail icons as there are new mail messages, but the Title, To, Subject, and Date columns are blank). Do...

PopTray and Spam Sleuth?

Maybe I'm asking the impossible, but has anyone successfully made PopTray work with Spam Sleuth 3.0 (www.bluesquirrel.com). Spam Sleuth looks like a promising, comprehensive antispam utility that I would like to try out, but not if PopTray can't work with it.

Cosmetic error in beta 13 (RC1)

If you go to the About tab in PopTray 3.0 beta 13 (RC1), the text "Check on-line if newer version available" has moved slightly compared to earlier betas. Part of the word "available" disappears behind the Contact Info area (only the letters 'av' are visible).

Solved! (For real, I think...)

I played around with the tweaks, and everything seems to work now. By the way, I agree with Curtz that most testimonials are completely bogus. The claims that some of these people make about performance improvements are downright ludricous. That said, a number of tweaks do make a difference--granted...

Nope! Not solved...

Well, it turned out not to be the cache optimizer. After uninstalling, everything seemed to be alright again at first, but after a few cold boots, the same problem came up again. Anyway, now I'm suspecting a few Windows XP tweaks I did through a little utility called XP Smoker. If I return all optim...

Solved! (I think...)

I think I solved the problem. It seemed to be caused by an application I was also running in the background to optimize Windows' file cache management (O&O CleverCache; www.oo-software.com). Anyway, when I turned that off, things seem to work for PopTray 3.0 beta 10. Perhaps PopTray, when exiting, a...

Problem still there...

I've done some more testing on my computer at home, and I'm afraid the problem hasn't gone away. Every single time I do a cold boot, the poptray.ini file has file size 0. This happens consistently. There are no accounts (obviously, since the configuration file is gone) and PopTray doesn't start mini...

I'll test it...

It happened every time I did a cold boot at home last night (never after a warm boot). I'll do some more testing tonight. I'll post the results here sometime tomorrow.

My computer at work doesn't have this problem, even though I'm running beta 10 on it.

This doesn't happen with beta 9

As a check, I reverted back to beta 9, and it doesn't happen with this release.
