Poptray Minus is a light port of Poptray under Linux. I have been in touch with its author, who is very kind. Unfortunately, the way the application works doesn't enable me to use it under Debian+WMFS window manager. I therefore still use Poptray through Wine on my Linux machines. OT : best wishes f...

Hi Renier, nice to have some news from you. I cannot say better than what you stated : PopTray does its job here too and there's no real need for an update. As you probably know, many users are "fashion victims" and think that good pieces of software need to be updated often. They will get older and...

I have tested several native linux mail notifiers : none comes close to PopTray in terms of functionnalty.

Hence, I am using PopTray under Linux with Wine : works flawlessly.

PS : Has anyone news from Renier ? Is Poptray still maintained ?

A french user just reported me the same infection detected by Kaspersky AV with poptray v3.03 My opinion about that : - I really doubt Renier would ever put a trojan horse in his software - Maybe the preview feature of poptray may have corrupted a machine when it is used to preview a malicious mail ...

As far as I know, the PAUSE/BREAK key works well when defined as a hotkey in PopTray. Its 'name' simply isn't indicated in the form cell of the options dialog.

The first and most important is to fix the problem with the computer that made it crash or reset. Thank you very much for having taken the time to summarize the information of the initial and apparently lost threads. I suspected indeed a driver problem. After several checks, I suspect a program (my...

[minor bug] - keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys) interpretation

In the keyboard shortcut settings, it is possible to assign actions to specific shortcuts : most of the keyboard keys are "recognized". For example, scroll lock key is well recognized : it works well and is properly indicated in the form cell in the options dialog (DEFIL on a french WinXP) ; yet, so...

Re: SERIOUS bug (Poptray.ini)

I second what Pierre wrote. I experienced 2 cases where the .ini file was squeezed to its out-of-the-box version.

The disabled account is not really checked, but it does appear in the popup because there are still "new messages" in that account. If I may, I would like to add another remark. 1) When the user deactivates an account, the number of emails for this account still is displayed in the tray icon, even ...

Thanks for the tip Rdsok. Actually, I wasn't complaining about not being able to delete rapidly an email from the server. I just wanted to draw Renier's attention to the fact that the email deletion operations performed by PopTray 3.1-beta 5 could lead to a serious bug when the pop server closes the...

I am coming across a similar problem. One of the pop servers I am connecting to allows only 1 connection per minute : so if I check twice within a minute my mail on this server, PopTray gives a connection error (normal) ; but if within a minute, I first check for new mail and then want to delete one...

As some other forum members already wrote, I think that the regex feature is an extra feature of PopTray : those who don't know how to use this feature may still go on using PopTray with much benefit, for those who know a little bit or more about regex, it definitely enables to tune ones filtering c...

I now have to release a PopTray 3.0.2 to remove the donation link on the about page. It doesn't help that people give donations, and I can't accept them. Will all translators please update their file with the new phrases added in PopTray 3.0.1 too. Shall we withdraw or leave, in our respective lang...

I voted "website forum" though I actually discovered PopTray on alt.comp.freeware newsgroup. This newsgroup has something interesting : each year, a list of freeware choices is made by acf readers and the results are output in a website. In the case of poptray : http://www.pricelessware.org/2003/PL2...

Sender belonging to both white and black lists ?

It is possible to add a sender to both white and black lists.

1/ Is that done on purpose (the user should know what he does) ?

2/ What's then PopTray's behaviour with the incoming mail from that sender ?

I guess that it is an error message received by PT from the server and it depends on the server settings. PT should not try to guess the meaning of those kind of error messages...

One more string to localize

In the situation where poptray lists in the main window some messages, where you delete those messages with a third party email client/checker, I get the following message window when I want to delete them (again) with poptray : "Erreur durant la suppression des messages" "No such message" The 1st s...

Hi quosego. You have exactly pointed out what the *real* problem was. I confirm that Bruno Giroux and I are providing then french localization for PopTray, respectively for french (Canada) and french (France). As for french (France), you are right "0 messages" is mostly incorrect ; the correct form ...
