Re: How can I make backup e.g. all my accounts?

Your lack of experience with how Windows and Poptray works under the hood is the only reason you aren't seeing a difference... you are just looking at the surface. For just one example, programs were suppose to stop writing in protected folder areas and start using the UserData Local, Locallow and R...

Re: How can I make backup e.g. all my accounts?

Thanks for the info but that still doesn't make Poptray compatible with Windows 10 which is still the main issue and I'd strongly recommend anyone else to use PoptrayU which has been updated to work with Windows 10. Again, I still want to thank you for the info just in case others may need the info.

Re: How can I make backup e.g. all my accounts?

Poptray is no longer supported, especially on an OS that it was never made for... Windows may be placing some of the files in other areas in an attempt to get it to work without sacrificing security but I'm not certain and I'm not setting up a test bed just to test an unsupported setup... you are on...

Re: How can I make backup e.g. all my accounts?

If you are still using Poptray ( which is the area you are posting in, so that is what I will assume... ) ... you can follow the instructions here https://forum.poptray.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2942 If you are using PoptrayU... you make backup copies of the same files but they would be located in the...

Re: I open PopTray from taskbar but its not maximalized - Why?

In Windows... a windowed program never automatically expands to a certain size normally, it opens to it's last size that it was set for by the user or the default windowed size if the user never changed it. This is as it is designed to operate and therefore is not a problem simply because it isn't a...

Re: I open PopTray from taskbar but its not maximalized - Why?

Ok... If I'm now understanding what you mean... You are saying the window isn't wide enough to show each of the email accounts that you've added. This isn't a bug, it is how a program's window works... it is re sizable but it doesn't automatically do it. Move your mouse cursor over the right edge of...

Re: I open PopTray from taskbar but its not maximalized - Why?

If it is the latest... it's name is PoptrayU .... you can't use the wrong name for things and expect others to just know what you are talking about... I'm also thinking the terms you are using for maximized and minimized are incorrect but I can't be certain. So just in case, I'll define each since i...

Re: I open PopTray from taskbar but its not maximalized - Why?

Unless your Windows itself is the problem... it's unlikely that you will have issues once you've installed and setup PoptrayU. After Windows XP, Microsoft started making big changes in the attempt to improve security on the system. The main two changes were the allowed locations that programs could ...

Re: I open PopTray from taskbar but its not maximalized - Why?

Get PoptrayU here http://poptrayu.sourceforge.net/

We don't provide support for or even guess's as to how or why a VERY old version of Poptray works or not on a version of Windows it was not even made for... it is discontinued and only provided for users that are using old hardware.

Re: I open PopTray from taskbar but its not maximalized - Why?

Poptray is no longer officially supported, in fact it only supports up to Windows XP. Upgrade to PoptrayU's latest version. If you are running PoptrayU and just didn't say that ( as you should have )... make sure it's the latest version. It should open into windowed or maximized ( full screen ) mode...

Re: email program

I've thought of another way to say this about email clients etc... As mentioned, PoptrayU is just an email checker, it doesn't send emails anywhere. It is used to preview emails that exist on the email server before you download them with your email client. Your email client retrieves the email from...

Re: email program

Poptray is no longer being supported or developed as I also mentioned. If you want to submit suggestions, you will need to use PoptrayU and there is a discussion area on it's main website... see http://poptrayu.sourceforge.net/

Re: email program

Poptray didn't get released in a portable version, so if someone made an fork of the program or altered it in some way... in which case you'd need to ask them for support. PoptrayU is a direct fork of Poptray that added support for the later versions of Windows, it only differs slightly at most. The...

Re: email program

First let me mention... I deleted your duplicate post in the Poptray forum area ( this is the PoptrayU area )... Poptray is no longer being updated or supported since it doesn't support newer versions of Windows since XP. If you do have a newer version of Windows and aren't using PoptrayU, this woul...

Re: Starting problem

When I boot up my computer, PopTray opens up as empty. It has no account, no settings, and nothing. I have to reinstall it every morning. This will restore all accounts and settings. What's the matter? If you are actually using Poptray and not PoptrayU ( which is the forum area you are posting in )...

Poptray is no longer supported and isn't meant to run on Windows newer than XP... update to PoptrayU and see if that resolves the issue.

Re: How to recover settings after collapse?

The .IDS files are lists of the emails that have been listed/viewed by Poptray and have nothing to do with the settings. We've always recommended backing up the settings files as stated in this post https://forum.poptray.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2942 in case situations like this occurs. Since you wil...
