Yup, that's the thread I was looking for. It's OK that the rules and rows aren't deleted. However, if the concern is for retrieving accidentally deleted rules, I'd rather see the whole .ini file backed up (multiple times), or maybe a separate .ini file for deleted rules, and then the active .ini fil...

rules.ini raw file gets extra rows/rules when edited via UI

I upgraded from an old PopTray to the latest 3.1 download, a few weeks ago. I copied my rules.ini file over and it seemed to be loaded correctly, and PopTray acts as expected. So far so good. I combined some rules into a multi-row rule. I did this with several rules, into several different multi-row...

This is an old topic, but what the hey. I use PopTray only to delete email from the mail-server via rules, i.e., I don't use PopTray for notification. I use the scheduler to start PopTray at system startup via XP's default administrator account. My family members and I log in to separate user accoun...

Now, the error messages (across the board) are: External exception E06D736. Yes, when I got home from work, I found this error waiting. I clicked around in the hotmail account and saw no more errors. But my protected hotmail messages are not marked in green. I turned off the "html as text" option, ...

Actually (and now that I've looked again I see this isn't shown clearly on the Sourceforge site) I wasn't refering to the self extracting file nor were I refering to the Beta_10 version. LegoBas made some fixes and made them available in the Hotmail.zip file that is listed just below the Beta_10 ve...

I reinstalled Hotmail plugin beta 10. I was already running that version (I mentioned the size of the DLL, I think rdsok was referring to the size of the self-extracting EXE.) I was able to check my empty hotmail account, I haven't tried yet with mail there. I think it's either a new type of bogus e...

Re: Was fine . . . then suddenly a problem

Access violation at 7C80979D in module 'kernel32.dll'. Write of address 006D6F6B. I am seeing the exact same problem under Win 98 with PopTray 3.0.3, and only with my hotmail account. I also check several POP3 accounts, and they work OK. How do I tell which Hotmail plugin I have? The size of Hotmai...

SUBJECT-->WILDCARD--> the * SUBJECT-->WILDCARD--> * the SUBJECT-->WILDCARD--> * the * Also, note that these rules will not catch --- I am "the best." --- because the double-quote does not match a blank space. This is hard to solve without regular expressions. You need multiple rules for every type ...

If you are not using one of the beta versions or don't use regular expressions, you will have to use one rule per word or phrase. I would warn you against using just one word to mark or deleting something as spam. Let me use the following as an example. SUBJECT-->CONTAINS--> the In 3.0.3 without re...

Sometimes people are just get too lazy to enter a good subject line and when making a rule you should take this into account. I occasionally get blank subject emails from friends, but if they're not in my whitelist, they aren't all that close of a friend, so the email gets deleted. I get as many as...

You are right with your comment, but even using 3.1 you should be very careful with such a rule. It will mark as spam some valid emails from your friends, with subjects like "Hello", "Metallica", "Spiderman" or "PopTray". ++Vitoco Yes, I agree. Actually, I already delete (non whitelisted) emails wi...

We know from this and other threads that an .ini file does not preserve trailing spaces, so when PopTray is restarted, a rule with trailing spaces gets changed and no longer works the same. Is there a way under 3.0.3 to write a rule that identifies a subject line with no blank spaces? I get tons of ...

I, unfortunately, can not afford any false positives One of my biggest goals was to have PopTray delete infected mail before it gets to my (and my kids') inboxes. We use a virus scanner and it catches all the infected mail, but I still want it deleted before the virus scanner sees it. I am achievin...

The info I saw on your journal doesn't go into great detail. The good news is that once you learn how to kill something like CWS, you've pretty much mastered the art of cleaning up your Windows environment. My kids got CWS or something like it onto our PC, but fortunately I had a separate laptop on ...

The automatic translation of this article was interesting to read. There was an untranslated word used a few times, HOMAQUEBEC, do you know the English translation of the French word, "courriel"? :?: I am not suprised that a third-party might be interested in the list of computers that had been succ...

RFC2822 supercedes RFC822.
RFC2822 specifies a maximum line length of 1000 characters, including the CRLF.
