Hi, I used your post "how to remove all spam to copy and paste the rules content, the rules-notepad has the entry: [options] Numrules=0 Does this make sense? That entry could make sense if you are using a USER ACCOUNT in Windows XP and starting PopTray with the COMMAND LINE, your real rules.ini fil...

Good advice RDSOK.

Give your rules a second look to make sure they are all done correctly.
Check in your PopTray directory, the Rules.log file to see if any of the rules are being used.

In simple words... The way K9 works is, you set PopTray to pass the request to check email to K9 (Server = 127.0.0.1 Port = 9999). K9 forwards the request to the email server. Then K9 evaluates the information that is sent back from the email server. It counts the numbers of words in the email and u...

Re: W2k with restricted account - cannot write .ids files

I am running a w2k (I know, it's rather old, but I like it) and working with an account that has NO administrator privileges. By default this account has no write access to program files folder, therefore poptray, that is running with permissions of this account, cannot write account_x.ids files. I...

Some spammers use the technique of having the recipients email address as the sending address in their emails, so you might have added her address when you thought you were adding a spammer's address.

Using WORDPAD, search through the RULES.LOG file for the email address and then see which RULE was implemented.

The easiest solution is to not open PopTray on Startup. Windows is losing track of the icons when it is opening several things at once.

If you take PopTray out of the START MENU / STARTUP Folder and manually start PopTray Windows probably won't lose the icon.

You need to add your actual email server and email address.

The items you entered (mail.poptray.org) were just examples and don't really exist and can't be used.
