PS This version still has the 'Divide by Zero' bug to the best of my knowledge. Yes its true. The bug is still there. I'd like to find this bug but I can't reproduce it on a regualar basis. Has anyone noticed any pattern when it happens or can reproduce it on demand? If yes, please email me at jame...

PopTray Notification framework

Now that I have been using the Notification framework for a few days I have come to the conclusion that the framework is completely unusable in its current state. Calls to the functions Notify() and NotifyAccount() occur in, from what I can tell, completely random ways giving unreliable results. My ...

Hotmail Plugin unread/new email count problem

I have noticed that the Hotmail plugin reports the unread/new email count incorrectly. On the initial check it reports all email as unread and new. On subsequent checks it reports all email as unread but not new ( this is a function of Poptray and not the plugin I think? ) The Hotmail plugin does no...

Unload() being called?

When is the function TPlugin::Unload() supposed to be called? I've never actually seen it be called on my notification dll.

I have done some more investiation and have noticed that it only happens if there is a new mail indicator. If there is no new email PopTray doesn't steal the fullscreen focus

Microsoft Speech Plugin

I have created a speech plug-in that uses the Microsoft Speech API to audibly tell you the number of new emails that have arrived. You can download the beta version from http://james.istop.com/PopTray/MicrosoftSpeech/ Simply copy the dll into your PopTray plugins directory and enable it from the Opt...

Refreshing a Plug-in causes Hang

What exactly is the 'Refresh' option for on the Plug-ins page? Whenever I select it PopTray hangs and I have to kill it via Task Manager.

Phew, thats good news. I was starting to get really embarrassed about the quality of my work ... As for the 'Divide by Zero' error, I have seen it once as well. The only thing you need to do is to change the return code of the function TPlugin::PluginType()

Switch it to 'return piNotify;' rather than 'return piProtocol;'

It compiles fine for me.

There is a fully compiling skeleton version of a plugin in the SDK. The only think that you need to do is switch it from a protocol type to the notification type (one line change) It should be everthing you need to get started.

One more time - Version 0.2 of Messenger popup plugin

I think I need some coffee :-) Ok I'll try one more time for today and then I'm taking a break :-) As it turns out the static release libraries are not as forgiving as the dynamic debug ones that I was testing with. I have switched back to dynamic loading of the MFC dlls but this time I have bound t...
