According to Microsoft support site, Microsoft Agent was discontinued with the release of Windows 7. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/969168 So while PopTray and PopTrayU both would be capable of having a notification plugin created to do this, I'm not sure how much value there is in creating a plugi...

Hi Denn, it sounds like you might have a good idea on how to improve PopTrayU, I'm sending you an email directly to ask for some clarification to make sure I understand your request properly.

Bateman, please download the latest version of PopTrayU. I have partially fixed this issue in the latest version, 4.0.7, because this same issue was bothering me too. Please note that if the URL starts with HTTP:// it will open in the default browser now. But links that are missing the protocol (or ...

Believer, I am going to send you a link to download a current private debug build that has madExcept compiled in. This should create an exception report with much higher level of detail including a full stack trace that may (hopefully) give me enough information to at least prevent the application f...

After looking into this a bit further, there's a nasty bug with no known workaround in the IE-plugin when you tell it that you want to work "offline" that prevents this from being fixed correctly, it ignores whether you're offline and just checks wehther you have an internet connection before downlo...

I'll try to look up that crash address in the code to see what might be causing it to crash, but I need to know what version of poptrayu you are using to do so. Thanks!

Please download PopTrayU 4.0.5 or higher. I have included a bug-fix that should address this error which is incorrectly being shown instead of notifying you that the encoding name isn't yet supported by PopTrayU. If you still get errors with the new version, or see an encoding the app should be supp...

TheVoodoo, thank you for your suggestion. This is definitely something I would like to implement in future versions (as well as optionally almost the reverse, displaying attachment images inline if images are enabled). It's not a trivial fix to implement (hence why it isn't in there already), but it...

luckyluke2301, I am the developer of PopTrayU (which builds upon PopTray's code) and I plugged your email and rule just like you have supplied here, into PopTrayU 4.0.5 (because if that is a bug I'd like to fix it) and it successfully deletes it. I have not made any changes to the rules or whitelist...

quosego, The main improvements in PopTrayU are that it decodes UTF-8 (and some other encoded) subjects correctly (eg: from facebook, flickr, emails with international characters, etc) instead of displaying gibberish, and an option to preview emails as HTML has been added. It also has options to save...

eanon, if you have not been reading the forum lately, please search for my recent posts. I am developing a fork of PopTray called PopTrayU which fixes the UTF-8 bugs, and I would welcome you to beta-test the app and/or provide feedback on future design decisions. Unlike the previous reports of fixin...

Zythan, and others who have expressed intrest in my project: If any of you are interested in helping me forge the direction for PopTrayU, I need a few people to voice their opinions and give outside perspectives on how you use the program, what bugs/features are important to you, what bugs that have...

Hi, yes, what Rdsok said. That fork is mine. Renier suggested I fork when I asked to contribute via email/sourcforge, as he is not equipped with the tools to release a new version at the moment (anyone think we should start a fundraiser drive to buy Renier the Delphi tools he needs?). I started the ...

Thanks for the additional information :) I was able to parse the UTF-8 subjects using Indy's built-in MIME decoding modules and the Delphi's native methods for decoding Utf-8. It's not "full" international character support at this point, anything outside of the ansi codepage will show up as a quest...

Thank you for your encouragements Zythan. I will certainly let you and others know when I have something stable and ready for testing. I am having good success at writing code to parse UTF-8 subjects for Ansi subject lines (subject lines with non-ansi code-pages is a whole other ball of wax, especia...

To ammend, I got it to (mostly) compile after I changed Delphi 7.0 from Personal Edition to Enterprise edition, looks like the version of Delphi does matter.

PopTray Dev Environment

Can anyone point me in the right direction as far as getting an environment set up to compile poptray from source? I know you need Delphi 7, but which edition? Is the free personal edition sufficient? Once Delphi is installed correctly, how can one verify whether the dependencies are correctly insta...

Hi, I'm having some trouble with this plugin. It seemed to work when I first installed it, but it seems to have spontaneously stopped converting html emails to plain-text readable ones even though I haven't changed any settings in poptray. My POP3 account is set to the POP3.HTML protocol and the plu...
