Oh I think PopTray is downloading the message OK, but it's intentionally aborting the account check when it sees what it thinks is a bad message, so rules are never executed. I'm not a PopTray programmer, but that's my guess.

I noticed this for the first time today, although I've only been a user for about two weeks. This is a real showstopper for me, running 3.0.3. If this continues, and if I can't specify a rule to delete it, I hope we can get a patch.

I've been avoiding using "yet another inbox checker". More stats would be interesting to me, and I'll work with PopTray options to see what I can see. But I haven't made the jump to K9 yet.

I can count overall emails by using "subject wildcard * IGNORE" and "new messages only". I can count deleted messages accurately. The rules.log file reports on all the rules that matched, but there is no report of the number of emails that were actually on the server. I agree, zero false positives is only possible if I am willing to live with a positive hit rate well below 50%. I think that I can get close to rdsok's number of 40%.
