I've setup PopTray or PopTray U on a PC with Windows Seven 64 bit installed.
I am able to check GMail, Mail.com and POP3 accounts and remove spam using PopTray and PopFile. I'll give the major details of the setups below for each program.
PopTray(U) Settings
PopTray(U) Settings:
The server name is added to the front of the LOGIN and then separated from the USERNAME by an FORWARD SLASH ( / ). Then the PORT is added and separated by a FORWARD SLASH (/). If you are using SSL then the last thing after the email address is a (/) and "ssl".
An example would be "pop.poptray.org/995/recent:kydave@poptray.org/ssl".
The SERVER is always 127.0.0.1.
The port is always set at 110.
No SSL Plugins are needed when using PopTray(U) with PopFile.
Do NOT check the SSL box in PopTray.
PopTray Rules:
I created a RULE for each of my BUCKET LABELS (DELETE, SPAM, READ THIS, PERSONAL).
An example RULE CRITERIA would be SUBJECT, CONTAINS, DELETE - The ACTION would be to DELETE FROM SERVER.
PopFile
Install PopFile. Then in the TASKBAR, RIGHT CLICK the PopFile Icon and then CLICK PopFile UI.
PopFile Settings:
POP3 LISTENING PORT = 110
POP3 host:port:user separator character: /
Show POPFile icon in Windows system tray? YES
I suggest creating at least 4 BUCKETS.
DELETE, SPAM, READ THIS, PERSONAL were the BUCKETS I created.
There is a short learning curve for PopFile, they use the term 'training', but I am getting excellent results and the ability of using PopTray with all my email accounts makes the training period spent reclassifying email a small price to pay. There aren't many more settings in PopFile, but the few that there are will get you going and deleting spam.

Hope this helps others too.

There has been a patch of SSL that now enables POPfile to once again download HOTMAIL and OUTLOOK.com emails.
