can anyone recommend a prg similar to Poptray for Linux platform?
any help would be appreciated

I suspect few here, including myself, are going to be of much help with your question... For the most part we are Windows users and even though some of us may have tried some type of Linux distribution, we are unlikely to be well versed in it....
Having said that... You also have another factor to consider.... You can't just ask for a Linux version but you must also find one that is compatible with the variation of Linux you have chosen to run ... there are a lot of them. Most are variations of the main "forks" of Linux such as Debian, Ubuntu, Red Hat, Fedora ( a fork of Red Hat actually, SUSE. So you'll also need to look for a program that is compatible with the variation of Linux you've chosen to run.
