Nice improvements!!

I just have two more remarks:

1- In the about tab, the text under the new picture has shifted and is not centered anymore (at least with the German translation).

2- Concerning the translation file: would it be possible to release it a bit earlier (or at least for the final release) that we have a fully translated ptlang file with the release. IMHO it's much more handy for the not-so-familiar non-English speaking PT users.

Yes, the final release wont have any changes so if the last beta is translated completely, it will be in the final release.

How many candidates are used to be before the release of a final version? Instead of Beta 14, will we get RC2?

(I also thought for Renier Crause "the first" )

Thanks!

strange you haven't heared of the term "RC" before, it's very common! in general, you can't tell how many RCs there'll be. "RC" ist just used to indicate a software is closer to the final than a "beta", and will be released in the current state if no critical bugs are found.
if i should guess, there are about 3 RCs on average before the final release. but there are also exceptions like foobar2000, which went up to something like beta 30 (?), then switched to RC, and currently is at RC 15 (!).

You are right, eyebex, as quosego is too. In Le grand dictionnaire terminologique, we read, RC = Domain: Computer science, software. And, lower : release candidate version. Synonym : release candidate. Nothing about the number.

The French translation is interesting. It means something like Last version before commercialization.

But, I like very much Renier Crause "the first".

When I found RCI, I thought I had the answer. Just too bad ! Those initials mean Radio Canada International.

Ouah! How many interesting things I learn coming on this forum! Every night, I go to bed more clever! :P

For me Release Candidate also specifies that it basically feature locked now, only bug fixes will be done before the final release.

Just because of naming conventions I keep the beta number too, so the next release will be (beta 14) RC2.

Just wait until you get to the next level. Your brain will blast and new dimensions will open up :D

Just my 2 cents:
I'd rather propose the idea of leaving out the additional beta number since only "RC x" describes it more properly that we are pretty close to a final release while "Beta" might still have this ugly taste of being (quite) buggy for some not-so-frequent users and visitors. But hey, it's your decision

Does that mean there will be nothing new to add to the language files? (hope so! :) )

1- In the about tab, the text under the new picture has shifted and is not centered anymore (at least with the German translation).
In the English version RC1 the "Check online if newer version available" is just visible for the first word--then if you go to click on it, it quickly moves all the text to the left where it belongs. And only does it on a fresh start. Once it moves over to the left it stays until another startup.

Just thought you might want to know Renier

My friend, if you read this post, you will see that Renier has been informed of this problem. I am sure he works hard to fix it for the next release. Noboby wants to get up to RC10! Is has been so hard to know what RC1 means!

Since I'm not getting any new feedback on some of the previous bugs that I never got, I'll ask here. Do the people that got them, still experience these bugs in the latest version?

Any AccessViolations with Preview?
Still "hanging" when server un-available?

Anything else you get recurring?

I experienced some memory leaks in previous betas (running WinXP Pro) but it hasn't occured yet in the latest relase.

Concerning the AVs or any "hangings", nothing appeared on my machines (XP Pro, XP Home, 98SE) for some time. To me, at least, it seems fixed.

- "List index out of bounds (-1)" on 3.0b7 on NT boxes.

- Ignored messages counter should include only displayed ones

- Notification windows with previously shown important mails

That's what I can remember...

Here (Win98SE and XpPro) I experienced one AV and a pair of bugs, but I wasn't able to reproduce them.

Sorry, but I can't support WinNT4. I don't have the OS, and even Microsoft doesn't support it anymore.
