Where did you hear about PopTray?

I don't often run polls, but I thought it might be interesting to learn where people heard about PopTray.

Me bad. I put forum site, thinking it was any forum, but now I realize it was THIS forum. Actually I saw Federov's posting on dslr (BBR) and decided to check it out. After using it for only 2 days, I have already replace Mailwasher Pro with PopTray. No comparison IMHO. Keep up the great work. KUDOS

I've been using PopTray a long, long time, since one of the earliest versions, so I'm not positive where I heard about it, but I think that maybe my older brother sent me an email message, telling me about it.

Is QuickEagle your brother? I still have an email dated 13 April 2001 where you recommend PopTray to him.

Nope, QuickEagle is not my brother. I've recommended PT to a lot of people in the past few years.

The option "newsgroups" is missing. Especially in de.admin.net-abuse.mail, but also in other groups of the de.* and at.* hierarchies PopTray gets recommended.

I'd heard of PT before, but only lately a mention of the 3.0-version caught my attention on SoftPedia.com, and I downloaded it & loved it ever since!

Great app, Renier! :D

I actually read about PopTray right before I was going to download e-prompter. Someone wrote in the forum there that PopTray was alot better, to try it out first so I did! :D

I searched Google etc., bored with the bloated or ugly mail checkers I had tried so far. I really just wanted something basic with a friendly interface.

It surprises me that so many programmers made so many irrellevant programs. I don't need time sync features etc. etc. and certainly not when major features are missing from the program.

PopTray (1.5 I think) was very basic, but the best checker I had tried.. by far. Everything I needed was there. I mailed it to a friend that loved it too.

And the updates impressed us; always updates relevant to our needs.

I tried every email checker out there, both freeware and shareware. None of them seemed to do everything I wanted, until I found Poptray. It was then and still is simply the best! :D

That's exactly what I experienced. Since I discovered PopTray in August 2002 I never had the need to continue my search for the ideal mailchecker because I had found it already.

Interesting to see that download sites are the most popular way of finding PopTray, even though it is not listed on pay sites like download.com.

I voted "website forum" though I actually discovered PopTray on alt.comp.freeware newsgroup. This newsgroup has something interesting : each year, a list of freeware choices is made by acf readers and the results are output in a website. In the case of poptray :

Thanks I kinda forgot about newsgroups. I've also done a Google Groups search and found some interesting discussions going back many years.

I found PopTray through a newsletter review from a computer magazine.
Therefore I checked "Magazine Article/Review" which seemed nearest.

A Google search to about a year back took me to a web site containing a listing of email tools. PopTray was a high rated product. Tried it, I liked it! Love at first byte. I never looked for another! :D A Perfect DSL E-mail companion.

I found & downloaded PT v2.00 in May 2002, on the freeware-site http://www.NoNags.com/nonags/index.html.

Thanx for creating such a FINE tool, Renier!
