Posted: Tue Feb 01, 2005 1:29 am
I switched my host to GoDaddy.com and now, whil I can check my email via a website but now I'm not able to check it with Poptray. I've set the server correctly but still no joy. Is there some different port I should try?

Select POP3 as your incoming mail server.
Then type in your Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server names.
Incoming Mail Server name: mail.yourdomain.com
(replace .com with .net, .org or whatever extension your domain name uses)
Outgoing Mail Server name: smtpout.secureserver.net
Then click Next.
Type in your email address as your account name.
Type in the password that you used when you set up your email account.
Then click Next.
Click on the new account name and then click Properties.
Click on the Servers tab.
In the Outgoing Mail Server section, check the box My server requires authentication.
Then click Settings.
Select Log on using. Type in your SMTP account name and password. Click OK. Then click OK in the next window.

The "server requires authentication" is probably the reason you can't connect using PopTray.

So if the server needs authentication there is no way to use poptray?
Or there is another way?

I don't see what SMTP settings have to do with your problem, authentication required or not.
SMTP is for outgoing mail, whereas PopTray only handles POP mail (incoming mail). So the SMTP server settings don't affect PopTray.
A couple of things you may want to try first:
1) Confirm that your POP server is actually working. See if you can receive mail via your regular mail program.
2) If you use a firewall, confirm that PopTray is allowed to access the Net.
