Hi,
I want to add a rule to scan the body for advertisement keywords. Therefore I need to retrieve the body while checking.
Question:
a) is it more risky to have the body retrieved while checking?
b) what about attachments - will these be retrieved as well?
TIA,
xiris

The following is my opinion...xiris wrote:I want to add a rule to scan the body for advertisement keywords. Therefore I need to retrieve the body while checking.

a) No, it adds no risk, as PopTray does not execute any commands or html in any message.
b) Yes, they will be downloaded to your PC, but none of the attachments are saved or allowed to execute. They also do not increase the risk.
The following are facts...
PopTray has downloaded just about every email sent to me in the last 5 years and the last few years it's been for K9 to scan the entire message.
PopTray has never caused a problem with any of the messages being downloaded.
What do you think of the following feature proposal: "add a switch to download attachements while retrieving the body of an email. The default would then be changed to not downloading attachements while retrieving the body."
In this case I even don't have the attachement in any cache or tmp-folder on my PC when PopTray is retrieving the body for preview.
