Accessing ONline E-mail without FREEPOPS

Post by JaDe » Fri Dec 21, 2007 6:01 pm

I installed PopTray 3.2 yesterday.

In reading the instructions and forum to find out how to connect to my e-mail account at att.net, I tried an undocumented method and found it works.

For me, its much easier.

In the E-mail Program field of the Accounts dialog box, I entered the web address of my e-mail account. Now, when I click "Run E-mail Client" PopTray opens either my browser (or a new tab) and logs into my web e-mail client. I saved my password so I don't have to type it each time, but befoer I did that the browser loaded that login page.

I would like to know how PopTray checks your web email account without using Freepops? Because PopTray is an email notifier.

Your "method" is partially documented here.

It is good to repeat it.

You should also be able to access your att.net using the SSL POP3 access they provide... if you add and enable the SSL plugin that is available in the Examples plugins that you can download
