GMail Copy send email in Outlook Express

Post by Jaap » Fri Feb 08, 2008 5:43 pm

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, great information & great program !

Since I have activated POP3 in GMail, everytime I send an email to someone from GMail Webmail I get a notification in PopTray that there is
a new email in my GMail account.
When I open Oulook Express I get a copy of the send email. [ it's addressed from me to me.

When I send an email in Oulook EXpress it does not happen.

Maybe Oulook Express also downloads emails from the "Send Emails " folder on GMail ?
And not only from the Inbox, because when I empty the Send Emails folder after sending the email it does not happen.

Maybe there is a way to delete this email in PopTray ?

Thanks.

Yes, there is...

In PopTray on the RULES Tab, click ADD RULE...

Setup the RULE in the following manner...

in the ACCOUNTS, select your GMAIL ACCOUNT...

in NEEDED, select ALL ROWS...

in ROW 1, in AREA select FROM, in COMPARE select CONTAINS, in TEXT enter YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS...

Click ADD ROW...

in ROW 2, in AREA select TO, in COMPARE select CONTAINS, in TEXT enter YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS...

in the ACTIONS Section, check the box for DELETE FROM SERVER and IGNORE, DON'T NOTIFY...

SAVE RULES, QUIT PopTray and RESTART PopTray for changes to take effect.

Hi KY Dave,
Thanks for the quick reply.
I played a bit with your suggestion, that should work.
I send an email to another account of mine from GMail webmail.
I compared the headers of the two emails and noticed that in the header
of my email in my GMail account I found a line : py-out-1112.google.com
that was not in the original send email to the other account.
The line could be different from other users, don't know [ other GMail server ? ]

So I added one rule:

Name : Gmail
Account : Gmail
Needed : ANY Row
Area = Header
Compare : Contains
Texst : py-out-1112.google.com
Not : checked
Actions : delete from server
Save.

That also worked !

Jaap.

No, it did not work the way I did it.
I followed your tips and now it works fine.

One thing, I checked "delete from the server" but it's still there but
that's not a big problem for me.

Thanks,

Jaap.
