...does not resolve to a valid IP address

Post by Denn » Sun Mar 09, 2008 10:41 pm

I'm trying to get K9 to work with PopTray. I followed KY Daves instructions very carefully.

In the setup of the PopTray account, I inserted 127.0.0.1 into the server field, and "mail.poptray.org/110/denn" I have tried it with denn@poptray.org at the end of that also.

When I test it I get this error message...
Server "mail.poptray.org" does not resolve to a valid IP address.

Anyone have an idea as to what is going on?

More than likely its either your antivirus email scanner or firewall blocking it... it sounds like the firewall needs to allow K9 access as being the more likely cause

No... I'm using Norton Internet Security. I went in and made sure that K9 is set to allow. Thanks for the advise, but the problem remains.

You need to add your actual email server and email address.

The items you entered (mail.poptray.org) were just examples and don't really exist and can't be used.

Thanks Again Dave!

It was a not seeing the trees for the forest type thing... or just plain stupidity on my part. Funny how when you configure everything right it seems to work better.
