Wondered if anyone had tried converting Poptray to Linux? I really miss the functionality... :-(

Hello,

What Linux distribution are you running ?

Only because there are a number of good mail notifiers for Linux:

http://www.nongnu.org/mailnotify/
http://www.granroth.org/kbiff/
http://www.ph.unimelb.edu.au/~ssk/kde/korn/
http://checkgmail.sourceforge.net/

Regards.

Thanks but none have the preview and delete functions of poptray. I did find 'poptray minus' but could get it to set up any accounts.

I'm using Ubuntu (and debian and fedora, but ubuntu is for email)

Had a look at converting poptray to freepascal thence to linux, but haven't had the time to persue as yet...

I have tested several native linux mail notifiers : none comes close to PopTray in terms of functionnalty.

Hence, I am using PopTray under Linux with Wine : works flawlessly.

PS : Has anyone news from Renier ? Is Poptray still maintained ?

I'm still alive, but PopTray isn't updated anymore. I still use it everyday and it serves it's purpose for me as-is, so I haven't found the need to update it.

Interesting to see PopTray Minus. First time I've heard of it. Pretty cool!

Hi Renier, nice to have some news from you. I cannot say better than what you stated : PopTray does its job here too and there's no real need for an update.

As you probably know, many users are "fashion victims" and think that good pieces of software need to be updated often. They will get older and wiser too, as we say in french.

Take care.
