Spam with unreadable sender and subject

Post by Ralf » Fri Aug 13, 2010 7:49 am

Hello,

in the last months, the count of mails (mostly spam), with a unreadable mixture from characters and numbers as sender and subject rises highly.

Is there any way for Poptray to be able to show this mails correctly, so I can decide which is spam and which not?

Regards

Ralf

Can you post an example? Full e-mail with headers and your mail address turned into X@X.X (to avoid spam spiders collecting email addresses from web).

I'm pretty sure that 100% of them is spam, and you can filter out those messages with a rule based on "Content-Type:" header.

I'm suspecting that this is from an unicode encoded email but really can't say since the OP was so very vague about exactly what they are seeing

Hello,

perhaps it is a common unicode problem, but how can I make the emails readable to poptray?

example:
Return-Path: <basiliuswenningerox@gmail.com>
Delivery-Date: Tue, 17 Aug 2010 04:47:11 +0200
Received-SPF: neutral (mxeu1: 94.190.41.118 is neither permitted nor denied by domain of gmail.com) client-ip=94.190.41.118; envelope-from=basiliuswenningerox@gmail.com; helo=gmail.com;
Received: from gmail.com (persk-vpn-41-118.interra.ru [94.190.41.118])
by mx.kundenserver.de (node=mxeu1) with ESMTP (Nemesis)

IF you are a programmer... you would need to recompile Poptray using a code library that supports unicode... but if not, there is nothing you can do about it.

The last I heard about it... Reneir was unable to find a code library that was free to distribute and/or also didn't require changes to his current license agreements ( ie technical or legal reasons )

I would have mentioned those options if I knew they existed...
