Renier wrote:The current Keyboard Lights plugin is just a sample to show programmers how to create a plugin. It doesn't have any options, but it has an option window as example.
On the PC where I've been trying this plugin, I've noticed after flashing the scroll-lock LED, after opening PT to view the emails, the LED stops flashing, but always seems to stay on (ie, so scroll-lock stays on).

This can be annoying, particularly as I was attempting to navigate through an Excel spreadsheet ;-)

Martin.

Renier,
I don't know if you didin't look at this problem (someone told you for 0.4 or 0.5): there are still some problems with roll-over with the buttons (they remain on)...

The plug-in does not work on either of my XP (Home & Pro) boxes. Seems to work on Win98 SE.

Renier,

I think you will need to have a forum for the plugins.

That way people can write about their problems with the plugins in that forum and get the developer to fix them.

Otherwise every one will be coming to you to get problems fixed that you may or may not know about.

php.com has a good system for dealing with developers and their releases. Only the Admin can post an ANNOUNCEMENT and they have the link to the download in that post. After that any user can post a comment or question and other users can reply.

I don't know if this is a known problem or something wrong with my settings, but 0.6 (under Win98SE) sometimes opens the notification window after a timed check even when there's nothing to notify me about. In other words, I've got "Hide Viewed Messages" checked (and, if it matters, some rules that say "Ignore - don't notify") - so it seems that PopTray is detecting some messages that it knows not to display, but then it displays notification anyway.

New Accounts and Rules in 0.6

Post by OzGreg » Fri Feb 21, 2003 3:35 am

Just found an limitation. Added new account, went to the rules tab and tried to alter an existing rule set -> in the accounts drop down box the new account was not listed. Had to exit application and restart before account was listed in the rules account dropdown box

Edward, is it only the notification window, or did the notification sound also play? Can you re-create it?

Thanks, OzGreg, I've been told about that one.

Renier,

I didn't have sound turned on, so I wasn't able to tell whether the notification sound came on along with an empty notification window, but I've now turned it on and will let you know if it happens again. I can't reproduce the problem, by the way, but it's certainly occurred more than once with 0.6.

Best,

Edward

Renier,

Similar problem to the one I reported before: I just did a Check All (via hotkey). The notification window popped up with no mail visible in any of the three accounts, but the notification sound did NOT play. Does that tell you anything useful?

I will release the source-code of the plugins with the next pre-beta. Just note that things might still change before the release of PopTray 3.0 (because I'm sure we'll come across more methods needed and paramters might change too). So if you do start developing your own plugins, you might need to make small changes to it as the beta progresses.

I've put in a lot of work into PopTray last weekend to move the POP3 checking code into an independant object. So now the next stage of creating a checking (protocol) plugin becomes possible. I'll see if I can make an IMAP4 plugin as a sample. (Although a webmail plugin would be the ideal).

Stuttering

Post by John » Wed Feb 26, 2003 10:48 pm

Hi Renier,

Beta 0.6 is working pretty good here, But I have a request. When PopTray receives mail across multiple POP accounts, my DSL connection checks and receives mail so fast the voice comes across something like this: "You have You have You have You have new mail" It does sound kind of funny. Could you have the voice sound once after all mail is checked?

I will include all the translations in the first PopTray 3.0 beta. (Then of course they will also need to be updated again).

I haven't included an updated ptlang file, because some of the text might still change.
