I would like to vote for "Don't know yet" :)

The reason for this is that i have no idea what PT's performance will be if all accounts have to be checked against a blacklist that contains hundreds of addresses.

And secondly i found out that spammers addresses (and domains) are only used for a relatively short period. By examining the log file i can do some manual maintenance on my blacklist that usually contains between 10 and 25 domains. This kind of activity will become harder or even impossible when i have an adopted blacklist that contains many more addresses.

indeed the spammers are using mail adresses in short time periods ... but if someone could check from where it was sent (not a reply address) maybe then it could fight with that ...

btw. don't know yet added

I voted no because I think it is better to share keywords than blacklists(surely NO way for whitelists!). Spammers use also to have a false from address (I was a "false from address" once... a bad experience!)

I think there are several blacklist sites that would be more comprehensive than any list you could ever compile on your own.

If you want to use a common list of spammers or blacklists then you should use SpamPal.

It checks several blacklist sites (as many as you choose) and then marks the emails with those addresses as "~SPAM~". Then you simply add a rule to PopTray to delete any email with "~SPAM~" in the subject or header.

It is discussed in other posts on this forum.

This type of filtering seems to work fairly well, but doesn't get all the SPAM, due to ever changing faked addresses and other reasons.
