Strange Socket Error # 10053

Post by Borgtex » Thu Mar 31, 2005 5:06 pm

I'm getting that error (Socket Error # 10053 Software caused connection abort) in a particular pop3 mail account (the others work fine) and only when it has files larger than 30 kb.

as mails go trought K9, "Retrieve body while checking" is marked and "Only download if size is less than..." is set to 50. If I set it to 30, the problem dissapears, but of course, some spam messages are not filtered. Where can be the problem? other mail monitor programs with similar settings as well as outlook work fine.

I'm not sure what kind of connection you are on, but if on dial-up, it could be the timeout setting in K9 or PopTray. I would try setting those to a longer time, since the problem doesn't occur if you have it set to not download larger than 30 KB, but does occur when it is set at 50 KB.

Thanks, but, no, that's not the problem: I have ADSL 512/128. Also, the error appears before timeout (i.e. if timeout is set to 60 seconds, it closes the connection at 20)
