Connect Error [LOGIN-DELAY] ErrorMessage

Post by ludwig » Fri Feb 24, 2006 2:50 pm

Hi all!

I hope somebody can help me with this error (or bug?)

Poptray has worked always perfectly but now, each time I connect to my server (terra.es/correo), all my messages are retrieved normally but, when I recheck or try to delete some of the displayed messages, poptray shows the following error message:
=================
Connect error [LOGIN-DELAY] Minimum time between mail checks violation
=================
I know the problem is not in my PC because some friend of mine is also having exactly the same problem.

[I am using Poptray 3.1 version. I also use Eudora and it works as usual, reading, deleting emails, etc]]

Thanks everybody!

L.

Since you and your friend are having the same problems, it is probably your ISP has instigated a time limit on how often you can login and check your email.

Try lengthening the amount of time between checks.

Also, you could set Eudora to NOT check automatically, but only at startup. That could stop several checks from happening at the same time, while PopTray is checking too.

I had the same error. It seems to be a Telefonica of Spain issue. The exact error is "Connect error: Socket Error #10053. Software caused connection abort"

I hope someone knows a workaround.

How to you figure that is the same error... it isn't anything like it. Your error happens if the connection between VPOP3 and the remote computer was closed because of a failure.

Check your internet connection and make sure you've given Poptray access rights in your firewall.

It aint a firewall issue... more likely a ISP issue. I have 4 other account setup in the poptray software and they have no problems.

Also it all worked fine for almost 2 years until recently... no changes made to my computer lately either..

I have the same problem. It happens in the accounts of Telefonica or Terra.

If you restart Poptray the messages are eliminated and it does not appear the error. Also the error is corrected if you check the message to erase with Undelete and check the account.

Somebody has some definitive solution?

Hola, a mi me pasa igual.

Hello, to my to me it happens equal.
I do not believe that it is error of terra, because if you close the program, you open and you return to check not it gives the error you.
- You can check the mail until twice followed without you of error.
- If you check the mail and soon flocks messages give error you. Reason why the problem comes when erasing a mail.
A greeting

Hi!
I have the same problem with Telefónica & Terra but not with other ISP.
The error message is: [LOGIN-DELAY] minimum time between mail checks violation.
It happens when a mail is deleted by a rule or by me, but not when poptray only checks the account without deleting.
¿do you know any solution?
Excuse my bad english
Thanks

There are only a few solutions I can suggest...

In PopTray on the OPTIONS TAB, GENERAL OPTIONS, check the box for ONLY DELETE ON NEXT CHECK. SAVE OPTIONS. EXIT PopTray and RESTART for changes to take effect.

If that doesn't help, then the remaining options are...

1. Don't use PopTray to DELETE messages.

2. Use a program other than PopTray that doesn't log in, check, delete, log out, log in, check, log out.

3. Use a different email service.

Thank you, KY Dave. I've tried "Only delete on next check" but the it doesn't help. I think that the problem is Telefónica service doesn't permit to check twice so fast as poptray does when the mails are erased :(

AFAIK - PopTray performs those 'rechecks' for the purpose of accuracy.

If new email arrives while you are examining your mail or the server didn't respond to the deletion command correctly, the list of email could be wrong. So the developer has PopTray perform a new check after each deletion command.

Yes, it often happens and it's a good idea to recheck. Really, I claimed because our e-mail service had forbidden to recheck in a certain time!
:(
Thanks for the information, KY Dave
