memory leak in PT 3.0 pre-beta 0.7

Post by mpot » Wed Apr 23, 2003 10:40 am

I've noticed a memory leak in PopTray 3.0 pre-beta 0.7.

I'm running it on Win2K, checking one POP3 account every 2 minutes.
After about 24 hours or so, Mem Usage is at about 8MB, and VM Size is at about 17MB (as reported by Task Manager).

The longer I leave it running, the more memory it consumes. Shutting down and restart PopTray releases all this memory.

I've just downloaded PopTray 3.0 pre-beta 0.8, and will see if the memory leak is still evident.

Yes, there may well be some memory leaks with my usage of PChar to send the mail messages around. I tried freeing up these resources in pre-beta 0.8 and it caused more access violations, so I'll have to do some more work on that.

Any Delphi volunteers willing to help?

Unfortunately my Delphi experience is non-existent....otherwise I'd certainly offer to help. My expertise is more with VB and VC.

My condolences...

Just kidding. I work in VB too at work. Still prefer Delphi though.

I tried to fix all the memory leaks in PopTray 3.0 (pre-beta 0.9). Can you please confirm on your side too?

I've just downloaded 3b0.9, and will let you know if I observe any memory leaks.....keep up the good work!

Cheers,
Martin
