Microsoft Speech Plugin

Post by jskinner » Mon Mar 14, 2005 1:29 am

I have created a speech plug-in that uses the Microsoft Speech API to audibly tell you the number of new emails that have arrived.

You can download the beta version from http://james.istop.com/PopTray/MicrosoftSpeech/ Simply copy the dll into your PopTray plugins directory and enable it from the Options->Plug-ins dialog

You can configure Microsoft Speech from the Windows Control Panel.

Cheers, -James

PS Unfortunately due to a bug in the PopTray plug-in framework, you will be told about new emails multiple times.

Version 0.3 Ready

Post by jskinner » Tue Mar 15, 2005 3:54 am

The Microsoft Speech Version 0.3 plugin is now ready. You can download it from http://james.istop.com/PopTray/MicrosoftSpeech/

This version adds configurability for what you are told about new emails. You can be told the new email count, the list of Senders, or the list of Senders and Subjects.

This version also trys to do a better job at working around for the multiple notification bug in the PopTray plugin framework. You still unfortunately can get very surprising results, since I have found no pattern on the order or number of notifications

Cheers, -James
