Thanks for your effort.

Do you know where those two terms are used?

Check Account is in the Accounts window. It is a button used to see if the login is OK. Il also allows to show the number of messages and to see if UIDL is supported or not.

Del is in the Mail window. It is a button used to delete selected message(s).

I think that you are talking about Test Account and Delete :o

As I said in other thread, I can parse all files in a simple way with a simple tool.

Now, I think that the problem is in the PopTray.customize file. Quit PT, rename the file and restart PT. Let's see what happens with the toolbars.

I made the test on two different computers both running with Win 98 SE. I closed PopTray, renamed the customize file and reopened PT.

I had the same results on both machines. In the Customize window, there are the two following functions/buttons : Del and Check Account ant there are not Delete and Test Account buttons. I customized two toolbars and doing so, I created a new customize file.

I add that in the blank.ptlang file of the Beta 16 RC4 version, the line Test Account is there but the line Delele is not there.

Do you have the same results with your NT system?

Now, I get out - since it is Indian Summer - and that I have no life!

My NT box is OK.

Did you remove your customize file after you closed PT and before you restarted it? Did you recreate it just by doing some drag&drop?

:o NOTE FOR TRANSLATORS: :o

I parsed ALL the translation files with my tool and left them available at http://www.inf.utfsm.cl/~vparada/poptray/languages.html

The index table has the number of messages that have to be removed from each file, and the number of messages that have no translation. This includes the language names not usually translated.

Please check this index, because many ptlang files are uncomplete, i.e, there are 20 of 31 language files that have messages without translation :!: :!: :!:

Vitoco
Thx for putting the parsed files online.
(So forget about my last email, i did not read this postings when i did send it)

Also thanks to Bruno for initiating this sharing of information between translators.

Strange idea to delete lines from the file i have been working on during such a long period :)

Obsolete lines in the former blank.ptlang file - update no 1

Post by homaquebec » Fri Oct 10, 2003 2:28 am

With the help of Vitoco's little and smart tool and after tests with the Customize file, I think that everything works fine.

Please note some errati in the sticky post at the beginning of this thread.

Vitoco,
thanks a lot for your job! :)
I just downloaded the italian ptlang who I'll use in the future.
Did you also sent all ptlang files to Renier who will add them in 3.0?

Just a note on the translation effects seen above (with del and check account). When you want to see how PopTray looks in English make sure you set it to English, and then quit PopTray (and delete .customize). This will ensure a clean start PopTray.

When you just switch PopTray to English without quiting, it will have to do a reverse translation. If the ptlang file shows Test Account=abc and Check Account=abc, to reverse translate abc it doesn't know which term is correct.

Vitoco's small and smart tool makes a good job but the file has to be carefully hand worked to be useful (and not "useless"). I do not think that Renier can do that for about thirty 7 to 10 pages files. Vitoco's tool has its limits. :!:

Vitoco said he did processed all ptlang files, successfully. I was simply asking if Vitoco sent to Renier all ptlang after processing. What's wrong with this? :o

Just because they are useless if let as they are after having been processed.

My process was just for (1) highlight those lines that are no longer needed, but it also (2) detected that many terms were not translated on them.

For ptlang files that only have type (1) lines, Renier could simply edit them and remove the lines, but Renier cannot fill lines in case (2) for every language.

Code: Select all

(1) (2) File
31 21 Afrikaans.ptlang
37 1 Arabic.ptlang
34 32 Bulgarian.ptlang
28 1 Catalan.ptlang
32 - Chinese.ptlang
27 - Czech.ptlang
32 7 Danish.ptlang
37 - Dutch.ptlang
36 161 Finnish.ptlang
48 6 French (Canada).ptlang
48 8 French.ptlang
27 16 German.ptlang
34 71 Hebrew.ptlang
30 4 Hungarian.ptlang
37 - Italian.ptlang
42 188 Korean.ptlang
36 3 Norwegian.ptlang
27 - Polish.ptlang
32 - Portuguese (Brazil).ptlang
30 177 Portuguese.ptlang
37 10 Romanian.ptlang
32 - Russian.ptlang
30 203 Slovak.ptlang
35 10 Slovene.ptlang
27 - Spanish (Chile).ptlang
31 58 Spanish (Hispanic America).ptlang
32 32 Spanish.ptlang
35 - Swedish.ptlang
27 - Taiwan.ptlang
31 155 Turkish.ptlang
42 - Ukranian.ptlang
As you can see, Renier should know about too many languages, so most of these files are useless for him. He could process and cut messages only on those files with a "-" in (2).

I am not going to change anybody's language files. It is the responsibility of each translator to fix the file if he wants to.

BTW some of those things listed as untranslated isn't neccessarily untranslated, it could be that the translation is the same as the English (eg. CC, KB, etc)
